According to some style magazines, the trend this spring/summer is bright cheeks with bright lips.
Here are some suggestions for you to use this summer.  These are products that I have tried and liked.

  2. Benefit Coralista - a pinkish peach blush with a shimmer
  3. Clinique Blushing Blush in Charming Rose
  4. Laura Mercier Powder Blush in City Pink -  has a blue undertone kind of pink with a little shimmer
LIPS:
  1. NYX Indian Pink -  pinky peach shade
  2. Cle de Peau Extra Silky Lipstick #107 - a bright/vivid fuschia pink
  3. Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense #37 (Satin Bright Pink) and # 40 (Satin Bright Orange)

Makeup Tip: How to make your lipstick last longer on your lips

Every time I would apply a lipstick, I would always wonder how to make it last longer on my lips without having to use a long lasting formula. Why, you may ask? Because I found out that long lasting lipsticks dry out my lips. So here are my tips; they actually worked for me and they might work for you as well.

  1. Apply a lip balm on your lips then blot
  2. Then apply a creamy concealer. Let it set/dry for a few seconds
  3. If you usually use a lip liner, now would be a good time to apply it. Use the liner as a lip color as well or blend the liner onto your lips
  4. Apply your 1st layer of lipstick, blot, then the 2nd layer of lipstick

Makeup Review: Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick

I have always been intrigued by Makeup Forever's new line of lipsticks so I finally gave in to my curiosity. I decided to purchase #48 (Satin Blackcurrant). It is very creamy and full of color; I was not disappointed (phew!) Definitely long lasting but does not dry out the lips. Loving it!!!

To prevent feathering you can either use a lip liner of the same shade or use the Lip Concealer before applying the lipstick.

Check out Rouge Artist Intense to see all the different shades available.

2011 Wishlist

Here is the list of the things I am currently wishing for.

1. Bobbi Brown Oil Free Even Finish Foundation: Searching for a matte powder foundation that will actually stay matte

2. Origins Starting Over (oil free) with Mimosa Moisturizer: According to Origins this moisturizer is best for lines and wrinkles; also for combination oily skin. Although I don't have wrinkles yet it is best to start using a moisturizer that will help prevent it ( my opinion)

3. By Terry Touch Expert - Terry de Gunzburg is the one who invented the YSL Touche Eclat (just a little background tidbit); tried it and I saw the difference it made under my eyes. Only thing is, it's on the expensive side (for a concealer)

4. Cle de Peau Beaute Extra Rich Lipstick - I know I'm never going to get this ($60.00!!) but it's nice to think out loud :); the colors are very rich and they look creamy; I liked the color selection as well

5. Makeup Forever Eyebrow Brush...it's currently out of stock but I think I will definitely get this one :)

Makeup Review: Chanel Coco Rouge in Perle

My new lipstick purchase for the month of February. It's on the nude( brownish) side (yet again) with a pearlized look. The shade is skin tone friendly. No need for a gloss because it has that built-in shimmer already. The only downside to this is, it's not that moisturizing so better put on some balm before the main event. Over all i like it.

Makeup Review: Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Rosy Nude

I have been waiting to try this line ever since it was released in the U.S. and I think it just recently reached Manila. I say this because I was looking for it a couple of months back and I couldn't find it.

It is a nude shade but a little bit on the pinkish side; the name is the actual color unlike other names wherein you would wonder why they called it such when it is nothing like it.  Case in point, NYX lip gloss in Beige, which is actually a pinkish color and it makes you wonder why it's called Beige.

It is creamy,  and it does not dry out my lips (although I always wear a lip balm before applying any lipstick).  The Rosy Nude is very pigmented, you don't need to keep applying to see the color, just 1 swipe and you're good to go.  I found it at PCX Personal Care Exchange for Php525.00.  It is definitely worth it.

Makeup Review: Chanel Liquid Lipstick

I have been waiting for this lipstick for months and finally Rustan's had a new shipment.  What I picked was the #75 Dragon.  You can tell from the name alone that it is a red lipstick.  But it is more like a blood red rather than a fire engine red.

PACKAGING: It is in a small all black tube and comes with a small doe foot applicator

CONSISTENCY: It is very creamy but it does not feel as if you have a ton of lipstick on; and definitely long lasting (I still had  lipstick on after eating dinner)

Makeup Review: Bare Minerals Lipstick in Plum Brulee

It's been a while since my last review and what better way to come back , with a new shade of lipstick. Another dramatic one but less work. My last review was the Chanel #147 which was very Morticia Adams so I had to downplay it a bit with a bit of pink gloss which came out very well. This time, the Plum Brulee did just that with one application. The lipstick itself is a bit thick so make sure you moisturize your lips first. I matched this with the Prestige Lipliner in Plum (how convenient right?). Don't you just love it when you already own the same shade of lipliner?

If you wish to see other shades of the Bare Minerals Lipstick please check our web store. Hope to hear from you soon.

Makeup Review: MAC's Ruby Woo Lipstick

I have been searching for a nice red lipstick and this is 1 of my favorites.  It has a blue-ish red tint to it that makes my teeth look whiter...nice!  It has a matte finish and it is very long lasting.  I had dinner and a mug of tea and I still had lipstick after, didn't even need to reapply ( I was just at home by the way) :)

You can always top if off with a red gloss, which I did.  I used the Rimmel Long Lasting and I think it helped the lipstick to stay on longer.

I can now scratch this off my wish list :)....thanks Hikaru!

MakeUp Review: Chanel Rouge Allure in Maniac (147)

I'm into the plum/prune shade these days only because I already have a lip liner to match it with. So I went on my lipstick search with my gal pal, L. We ended up at the Chanel counter and found "THE" one. When I used it the next day here's what I noticed.... it's very very plum indeed and found it a bit thick when applying it. Morticia is that you?? So a lip brush is highly recommended for application. And since I found it too dark I blotted it first before putting gloss over it. (Oh don't forget that my lipliner is already in place from the start)....From the gloss I was able to lighten the shade and so I was confident again. Thanks L for my Christmas gift.:))

MakeUp Review: Bare Minerals Lipstick

This lipstick has so much potential. Besides being comparable to Mac (price wise), packaging is also simple but I prefer this one. It's classier I think. The shade I just tried is called Cream Puff. Again, it's a nude color more on the mauve-beige side. At first, application is not as smooth as I would hope for but when it's on the lips the color shines. I suppose the reason is that all their ingredients are 100% natural so it's not only the color you're after but its long-lasting hydration which is good for your lips.

NOW AVAILABLE AT GorgeousMeStore !

MakeUp Reviews: Chanel Lipshine in Panarea #93 and Diorskin Long-lasting Setting powder 001

Chanel Lipshine- This shade is on the berry/plum side, a bit sheer with a hint of shimmer. It can also pass as a neutral color so you can pair it with any shade. I like it because it stays on even after I drink. Price is on the up and up but worth checking out.

Diorskin LL Setting Powder-This was given to me by L for Christmas. I read about it in a magazine along with its positive reviews. The texture is like that of Makeup Forever's HD Microfinish powder, fine and smooth to the touch. It's Translucent and doesn't give you that parched look. One of my favorite powders.

Makeup Review: Nars Lipstick and Blush

I recently got another Nars Lipstick and a Blush.  It took me awhile to purchase these because 1, the lipstick was not available here in Manila and 2, I always try to do an extensive research before buying a product.
What I got are Dolce Vita Lipstick ( did I mention that I was in the nude kick?) and the Gilda Blush.
Unfortunately, the lipstick is kind of sheer (in my opinion) so I have to apply a few coats before I see the shade on me.  But the blush is very pigmented so a light hand is advisable.
Next on my radar is the eyeshadow duo, I already know which I want to purchase :) I better start making a list of the things I want for Christmas!!!

Do you like Nars?  Any favorite products?

Makeup Review: Jemma Kidd Lipstick

photo from jemmakidd.com
Another brand that I keep hearing about is the Jemma Kidd makeup line.  I was able to visit their counter at Seibu and bought myself 1 lipstick.  The shade is Rita.  I have been in the nude shade kick lately so that's what I got.

Packaging: matte black; same feel as the Nars packaging

Texture: smooth

Ingenuity: has lipstick on 1 end and a lip balm on the other

Downside: has only 2.5g, I'm not sure if that's the total with the lip balm included or just the lip color but either way, very few product in my opinion

Color: nice color selection, quite pigmented in my opinion ( I don't like the sheer kind somehow)

When you're in Lane Crawford, you might want to check it out.

Thanks for stopping by!

Makeup Review: Giorgio Armani Lipsticks

photo from giorgioarmanibeauty.com
On a recent trip to Hong Kong with Dr Evil and Kimmy,  I was able to splurge a little on lipsticks.  After seeing this brand in magazines like Instyle and Lucky I was craving to try it out.  So when I saw it at Lane Crawford,  I dove right in.  I got the Rouge D'armani in shades 601(plum shade) and 506(pink nude).

Packaging: all black, very sleek, cap is magnetized (yup, it closes by itself! neat huh?)

Texture: silky smooth

Color: wide range of shades( classy colors), very pigmented

Staying power: lasts quite a long time, keeps your lips moisturized

In a nutshell, loving it!! Definitely worth trying.

Check out Giorgio Armani Makeup for more information on their line of amazing makeup.

Thanks for stopping by and see you next time!

Make Up Review: Cle de Peau Beaute Extra Silky Lipstick

photo from cle de peau
GM just came back from Hongkong and brought home some good buys, one of them being this one. The brand has been around for sometime but sadly not here in the Philippines. In case some of you might not know it but this brand is part of the Shiseido Co. so it's no surprise that their products are of high quality. While I was going around the cosmetics department of Seibu, I decided to look at their lipsticks and see what they had to offer. At first, i felt intimidated because they have that very expensive look and normally I don't go to these counters unless I'm prepared to unleash the contents of my wallet. But when I got a hold of their extra silky lipsticks to try, I knew one of them was coming home with me (or rather 2). I got the #103 and #110. Both with nude undertones. Their shades are similar but one has a bit of a shimmer to it so you don't need to put lip gloss anymore. Very moisturizing too so no need for a lip balm. Was trying to convince L to get one but she opted to buy one for her mom instead...awww how sweet...right L? hahaha.
So ladies, when in HK go visit Seibu and try them. I know you won't leave empty handed.

Makeup Review by Kimmy: NYX Lipstick

Rich in Moisture, Rich in Color

Just when you thought you have seen the last of the must-have beauty products, someone is raving about something… again! My sister insisted I try this new brand called Nyx and I decided to give it a try coz days before I saw some red carpet photos with NYX in the background. So, since we should always be in the know of the latest in beauty… I agreed to try it. I decided to be adventurous and grabbed a hot pink one called "Doll".

So, after my usual routine of foundation, powder and nude blush ( yes, girlfriends… since we are about to try a wild color…. Let's give it the focus it deserves and let's give those smoky eyes, dark pink blush a rest.. for now), I tried it on. And trulily, it's a winner. Ok, fine… my exact words were "Lola, winner sya!" For one, application was easy. Without much effort, the lipstick just glided across my lips. I suddenly remembered my first lipstick from Wet N' Wild that I bought a million years ago that begged the question… "OMG, may lubricant ba ito?" :-D. The color was also perfect. My lips just popped up with rich color and since it was so rich in moisture and pigment, the color stayed with me for quite a bit…..even after two hours of endless chatting, a cup of tea, a tuna sandwich and some slices of cheese, my lips were still pink! But this time, it was a more natural look… I just sent my darling sister a text…… I need to get another one and the NYX (get it! Nyx..next… pfft! ) color I want to get it is something nude ;-)

Makeup Review: Nude Lipsticks

My fascination with Nude Lippies

When you say "nude" what comes to mind is a skin tone color. But when you talk about "nude lippies", that is another story. Some still considers nude as skin tone while others categorizes it in a whole different color range. What I prefer are nude shades with a hint of pink in them. Such is the case with 1 particular lipstick shade from Laura Mercier and the shade is called Nude Lips. I'm always in search of other 'nudes' so every time I'm at Rustan's I check out the LM counter to see if they have any new nude lipsticks. Of course I always end up picking up the Nude Lips, go figure. I guess that shows how much I love that shade.

I've tried lipsticks from other brands like Prestige (Mocha), Smashbox (Socialite) and Benefit (Lady's Choice) and Nyx (Frosted Beige). Though they have their own take on the nude, I liked them all. I apply a Raspberry Gloss (Napoleon Perdis) over the Prestige Mocha and the effect is similar to LM Nude Lips. .. me likey very much. Benefit's Lady's Choice is very similar to Smashbox's Sublime, just a tad lighter, hence more nude. I found out that Benefit's Lady's Choice washes me out especially in pictures, so I normally apply a pinkish lipstick over it or a lip gloss.

I've seen some shades from Bobbi Brown that are very nice but I'm sure the price is very nice too.

What are your favorite lippies?  Thanks for stopping by.
